The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) which was created on January 2, 1991 pursuant to Republic Act No. 6975, and a line bureau of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), has jurisdiction over all district, city and municipal jails. We serve detainees, and prisoners with sentence periods of below 3 years, and are distinct from the PNP and other correctional institutions i.e. the BUCOR, provincial jails, etc. Moreover, Republic Act No. 9263 of 2004 paved the way for our professionalization.
With the creation of Caraga Region, BJMP-Caraga was subsequently established in August of 1995, and has since then serving our brethren behind bars for the past nineteen years.
The logo represents BJMP-Caraga, depicting representations of the wealth of the region, particularly in the aspects of agriculture, aquatic resources, mining and its human resources.

Frontline Services
1. Processing of Jail Officer 1 (JO1) Applicant — No fees required. Details of qualifications and documentary requirements are available at www.bjmp.gov.ph.
2. Provision of the Copy of Jail Data, Statistics, Inmate’s Record and Directory — No fees required. Write a formal request addressed to the Regional Director, attention Chief, Operations Division.
3. Grant of Permission to conduct Educational Tour and On-The-Job Training in Jail — No fees collected. Write a formal request to the Regional Director attention the Warden of the jail facility intended to be visited, or be applied with for OJT.
4. Request for Payment for Construction Projects — No fees collected. For the contractors, they are required to submit:
5. Data provision/Assistance to Students/Researchers on Matters Related to Jail Management — No fees required. Submit Letter of Intent signed by Class Adviser or Head of Office, addressed to the Regional Director attention Chief of Program Development Division.
6. Request for Clearance to Conduct Media Coverage — No fees collected. Write formal request to the Regional Director.
